About Universal Brahma
Ancient Jyotish wisdom, calculated precisely and offered freely.
Our mission
Universal Brahma makes authentic Vedic astrology (Jyotish Shastra) accessible to everyone, in English and Hindi. Every chart, horoscope and panchang on this site is calculated from real astronomical positions of the Sun, Moon and planets. Nothing is copied from generic text. A guided meditation page helps you settle the mind as well.
How we calculate
- Planetary positions: the Sun and Moon follow Jean Meeus's Astronomical Algorithms, and the planets use NASA JPL orbital elements.
- Ayanamsa: Lahiri (Chitrapaksha), the standard adopted by the Government of India's Calendar Reform Committee.
- Houses: whole-sign houses from the Lagna, as in classical Parashari astrology.
- Nodes: mean Rahu and Ketu.
- Dasha: Vimshottari system, using a 365.25-day year.
- Horoscopes: derived from gochar (transits) counted from the Moon sign, following classical transit results.
